Patriotic Christmas?

This summer I was feeling the heat and got the crazy idea of doing a patriotic themed card for a friend with a snowman.  It seemed appropriate ... after all ... so many patriotic colors also work well or Christmas and vice versa.  Now I am wishing I could do another and send out for Christmas.  I called this card: The 4th of July Meltdown ...

Birthday Greeting

I don't know if the recipient will like this, but I just wanted to do a fun collage postcard for their birthday.  I used images from Collage Play with Crowabout.  Wish I would have remembered to add the shading around the images ... but it was still fun!

Painted Feather

Crusade #30

Long time no see LOL I'll end catch-up post after my finals are over ... I just decided to post this now. I'm doing a mail art round robin with painted face envelopes with some other great gals from the Guild. You can see the start of Kelly Snelling's envelope here.

Rather than just paint a plain envie, Michelle Ward's Street Team post got me to thinking about how cool it would be to take advantage of some of the neat textured papers out there and alter them. Here are scans of my original papers.

Spiral Background Paper Textured Background Papers

Here is the back of my envie made with textured paper and molding paste:

And this is the front:

Painted Feather
The background had a very earthy feel, so I felt inspired to draw and paint an image of a Native American girl -- cutesy as she is LOL I have a lot to learn about painting faces yet -- but I'm still in that stage where I am amazed it more cloely resembles a human than a Martian LOL

Altered Torso

Men TorsoHere is an altered torso I did for an art lottery. I felt kind of stumped about what to collage on there -- and I have a gazillion postage stamps so that 's what I used LOL

The black accents were added with a bubble printing technique at MHBA -- fun!

Late Valentines

Well -- a Valentine just wouldn't be a Valentine from me if it were in time LOL
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do more fun mixed media hearts -- so here are some Valentine postcards I made and they seemed perfect for
Wednesday Stamper and Mixed Media Monday this week.

Fabric Paper Postcard

Organza Fabric Tissue Paper Postcard
Here is a postcard I made with the fabri paper from the previous post. The color looks a little different --- more realistic here. In the previous photo I had taped the paper up to the window to show the translucency, but the color was a bit off there.

Daring Cardmakers - Postcard

Textured Postcard
I made this postcard in response to the postcard challenge on Daring Cardmakers. I was playing around with texture on this -- not sure this was a successful design, but I had fun making it!

Pensive

Here is a postcard I've been working on for a swap -- a bit late, but done after changing my mind about what I was doing a gazillion times LOL

Duct Tape Postcard

Alcohol Ink PostcardApparently, I never posted this, but here is a postcard I made for a technique swap on the BookArtz group using alcol inks and duct tape. It didn't seem quite interesting enough with just the alcohol inks, so I sprayed a puddle of copper spray paint and brayered across some of the raised areas and accented with black spray webbing.

765 Blue

765 Blue
Well ... I didn't quite the look I had first envisioned, but I think it's interesting. I used a portion of a map page for the background and applied crackle glaze over that and sealed. Then I did the peeling paint technique, but I applied vaseline over too much surface area and didn't get quite enough of the paint to stick.

Postcard Try #2

Lady - weathered metal technique
Wooo hooo! This postcard actually made it to the post office without getting lost LOL I used the same weathered metal technique.

Missing Postcard

Twins - weathered metal postcard Well pooh! I made this altered postcard for a swap and it came up missing in action before I made it to the post office LOL I used a weathered metal technique using metal foil tape and fluid chalk inks.
